What is lawn Aeration – Aeration involves perforating the soil with small holes to allow air, water and nutrients to penetrate the grass roots. This helps the roots grow deeply and produce a stronger, more vigorous lawn. The main reason for aerating is to alleviate soil compaction.
Deep Core Lawn Aeration –This is the only type of lawn Aeration that we do. We remove a core of dirt and grass roots allowing water and air to reach deep into the ground. There will be a dirt and root core deposited on the lawn which will break up naturally.
Aeration Machines – We use the heaviest aeration machines around they are the best for pulling the deepest plugs
Fertilizer – Our own proprietary blend of Positively Green is a 22-4-18 (22% Nitrogen- 4% Phosphate- 18% Potash and other soil Nutrients) blend designed by a Horticulturist for our unique soil type.
Pre-Emergent – Stops weeds before they have a chance to grow and spread our weed blocking formula stops 50 plus different types of weeds such as dollar weed, clover, dandelion and 50 other types of weeds.
Granular slow release – we use a granular (small round pellets) fertilizer and weed control it is slow release as to not harm your lawn.
Aeration benefits -Core aeration can help make your lawn healthier and reduce its maintenance requirements through these means:
- Improved air exchange between the soil and atmosphere.
- Enhanced soil water uptake.
- Improved fertilizer uptake and use.
- Reduced water runoff and puddling.
- Stronger turfgrass roots.
- Reduced soil compaction.
- Enhanced heat and drought stress tolerance.
- Improved resiliency and cushioning.
- Enhanced thatch breakdown.
How many times per year – We recommend 2 times per year however the more you aerate the healthier your lawn will be.
Lawn preparation – The customer’s lawn should be clean of debris and watered the night before to allow best core penetration. All sprinkler heads should be marked as so the operator can avoid them also make sure all back gates are unlocked so the tech can get to the back yard.
Double pass – Most lawns are very compacted so we offer a second pass with the lawn aerator putting double the holes in the lawn help the compaction even more.
What to expect – Immediately after aeration, your lawn will be dotted with small plugs pulled from the soil. Within a week or two, they break apart and disappear into the lawn.
About 7 to 10 days after aeration, the aerification holes will be filled with white, actively growing roots – a sign that the turf grass is receiving additional oxygen, moisture and nutrients from the soil.
